In September, the Federal District Court for northern Illinois reversed a school board decision to fire a teacher because he taught his class about the N-word. The facts of this case are very interesting. Sixth grade English grammar teacher, Lincoln Brown, noticed a note that the students were passing among themselves during his class. He intercepted the note, which had written words to a rap song on it. The song contained offensive terms, including the N-word.
